Eva Swyngedouw
I am a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University and a guest lecturer at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. My research interests span the fields of urban sociology, migration- and housing studies. As an urban ethnographer, I employ fieldwork, qualitative interviewing, and archival research to investigate the governance of marginalised populations in urban settings and its effects on their everyday lives.
Project
My research for the Property and Democratic Citizenship project is centred on property regimes and social housing conflicts in the Netherlands. I have previously delved into topics such as housing struggles and evictions, the challenges faced by minority artists in the cultural labour market, and the governance of migrant newcomers in Brussels.
